Queen B has fallen off her throne and landed in Brooklyn (of all places!), where she's sharing an apartment with V. It's hell at first, but somehow they find a way to make it work - and B even discovers that she has some domestic talents she never knew existed! But now N and S are a couple, and heartbroken B's desperate attempts to maintain her reputation have put her on "sweet" little J's foul side. And when it comes to these girls, revenge is a dish best served HOT!
Can you take a little heat

Review:

I am a huge fan of the TV series of Gossip Girl. It is one of those addictive series that hooks you in from the get go and one that I love getting to know every character from. True, I am yet to read the books and have been a little hesitant, but when I saw this Manga version of the series at the library I thought hell yeah, why not. It’s free right??

I got to say I am so glad I did not spend the money in purchasing it for my collection because I think it would have been a waste of money. Don’t get me wrong I actually did enjoy it at the best of times, but overall the worst times ruined my experience for the whole thing. Now before anyone tries to beat me with a oak branch, I do like me a little Manga and while it is not one of my preferred reading choices of books I do occasionally have a thing for graphic novels. But this one just didn’t do a darn thing for me.

Kudos to the artist, I understand that it is a stylistic option and I think the artwork on its own is beautiful, but to be honest it didn’t suit the story and even though I understand it is a Manga and they are not meant to be exact, I just wasn’t feeling it. I think it would have been nice to have it all in colour as well and not just the first few pages, but that’s just my ideals. But that’s not the only thing that bothered me with this novel.

I was so confused while reading this, and I am not sure if all Manga’s do this, but there was like a million different plot lines going all at once from what I could gather and none of them were making sense. Also the way that each character was portrayed didn’t live up to my expectations either, especially when it came to my two favourite men; Dan and Chuck. Chuck Bass was dull and Dan had characteristics about him that I am not sure even suited his personality and made reading about him even more unsettling. I just hope that Cecily’s writing style isn’t like that in her novels, for the story fell short for me too.

I have to admit that there were parts of this book that were great, funny and downright cute and I would recommend it for a quick read [if you can get through it]but I would definitely check it out at your local library. Again this book didn’t really do it for me, but it might for you. I am still hesitant about picking up the Gossip Girl series novels, so I would be interested in hearing more about them. But I won’t be continuing with this Manga series.
