Fall Into Read Read-A-Thon - Day One-Five Update

0

My week has been so hectic. I did manage to fit in some reading between waiting for people to turn up and sometimes in some spare moments but with guests you can never be to sure and I decided since it might be a few years since I see my friend again to make the best of the time spent with her, even if that was at the cost of some reading. However I do plan on doing an update and while some of the challenges might go up in a few posts I thought I would give you all a quick update and a little Poem for the Fall Poetry challenge in the meantime.

Fall Into Reading Read-A-Thon Day One Update

0

Hey there fellow Book Lovers,

I had a fantastic reading day today. Starting of the pile with a book I have been waiting many years to read and while I don't much like the cover, the content is what counts and I found myself wanting to read this whenever I had a chance to read it. If my page count is anything to go by [153 pages] it is a bright indication that I am loving this story and cannot wait to continue reading it tomorrow.

I thought today I would share my favourite quote of the day that I have been reading to everyone who will listen and laughing my blankets off.

I look forward to joining everyone tomorrow with their reading goals and cannot wait to work through my pile. I am really excited about some of the books  !!! Let's see what happens when I read.

Falling into Reading Read-A-Thon - Challenge Post

0

As always I am a mad woman when it comes to a challenge. Sign me up and I will give it a try even when I know I am determined to only get half the things checked of the list. This past year I have participated in two Read-a-Thon's so far: The Bout of Books 8.0 and the wild BookTube Read-a-Thon [Both which were mad dashes since those two weeks were so hectic. Now it's that time again and I decided to sign up for the Fall into Reading Read-a-thon hosted by the Bibliophilesisters. Little did I know weeks ago that I would be falling into tradition with my week being jammed packed with meetings, travel and one of my life long friends finally visiting me after 3 years of not seeing each other [how could I say no?]

But in the spirit of my insane personality and ability to read 1-2 books a week if I am lucky I have still signed up because I love a challenge, meeting new people, reading a variety of books and having fun. So without further ado I am going to share the books I will be picking from this week with the aim of reading at least two from the pile.
[Although in the spirit of challenge I might even push myself a little further- well see, but I am happy with my pile.]

I will also be following along with the challenges and posting my progress each and every day throughout the week regardless if I am face planting the pillow from late night movie sessions or exhausted from the exciting life of travelling and meetings.

[I'm still young – I can stay up all night and run a marathon, clean my house and read my entire book pile – aheah – Yeah right Wonder woman.]

Blood Promise #4 (Vampire Academy) - Richelle Mead

0

Pages: 503
Published: August 25th 2009 by Razorbill
Genre: Y.A/Paranormal Fantasty
Acquired: My Own Collection
Date Finished: 7th September

Synopsis:
Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

Quick Thoughts: Why Did I wait so long – Captivating – Utterly readable- Loved it.

Richelle Mead you have done it again with your epic writing skills and addicting pull that you have over me with this series. There is nothing better than delving back into a series that you love, especially after an extended period of time. I was both excited and nervous to get back into the Vampire Academy series. One reason being the books have got so much bigger over the series and the second being that I enjoy it so much I don’t want it to end. And wow, Shadow Kissed left on a cliffhanger – guys be prepared for the amazing journey that is Blood Promise.

For the most part is it about Rose’s journey in completing the task she set out to do at the end of Shadow Kissed. There is a lot of travel, culture, new characters being introduced and a lot of emotional turmoil as we track along as a reader with Rose as she makes her way in a new country and towards the deadly and dangerous tasks ahead. I did find that the first half of the book was slow, sometimes a little too slow, but in the overall context of the novel as a whole it works really well.

I did put Blood Promise down for a few weeks and picked it back up about halfway through and I was so glad that I could easily put myself back in the world and in Rose’s life so that I could enjoy the rest of the novel. The remaining half of Blood Promise was defiantly epic, and at times it had me doubting Rose as a character. She goes through some major changes in personality, both positive and negative and it really stirred a lot in me. I think the most tormenting part of the novel for me though was her search for Dimitri. Their love is one that I adore. One that rips my heart out every time and while sometimes it can be exaggerated, for the most part it is real and raw and emotionally believable.

There were so many interweaving sub-plots to enjoy. From Rose, to Lissa, and too many other characters I was hooked on every little morsel of Richelle offered and knowing a little bit about the spin off series I am looking forward to learning more about the characters introduced in this novel and it only makes me more excited to see how things unfold in the remaining two novels of this series. Overall – I loved it. I gave it a few days to think about and let it simmer and I cannot deny myself the remaining novels anymore. I need to read them, devour them, live them and hopefully love them as much as I did Blood Promise. If you haven’t already – PICK IT UP.
